Los Gonzalez
About This Spot
Step into Los Gonzalez and you find yourself welcomed by a casual, homey vibe where the hum of friendly conversation blends easily with the clink of pool balls and the soft glow of neon lights. Nestled on a lively strip of Lincoln’s North First Street, this Mexican eatery doesn’t rush you—it invites you to savor the moment, whether you’re grabbing a quick taco or settling in for a laid-back evening with friends.
The space carries the charm of a neighborhood joint where comfort is found in simple pleasures: the warmth of the staff’s greeting, the playful buzz from the adjoining bar, and the inviting aroma of richly spiced dishes that fill the air. Whether you’re standing at the counter or tucked into one of its modest tables, there’s a welcoming ease here, the kind that encourages exploration — of flavors, textures, and the lively local spirit.
Los Gonzalez feels like a place where the menu tells a story rather than just feeds a craving. The dishes arrive layered with personality: street-style tacos bursting with fresh, tangy brightness; quesabirria that offers indulgent comfort wrapped in a tortilla’s embrace; and elotes that make you pause, spoon in hand, to appreciate a fusion of tradition and playful twists. Each bite is approachable yet thoughtfully crafted, a reminder of the joy in discovering familiar food touched by a bit of local soul.
The pace is easygoing but never static—there’s a subtle energy from the pool tables and video games nearby that keeps conversations flowing and new friendships forming. It's the kind of spot where customers don't just return for the food, but for the connection it fosters: the smiles exchanged while waiting for orders, the shared delight over a perfectly spiced salsa, the quiet appreciation of a dessert that rounds out the meal in unexpected, satisfying ways.
Los Gonzalez invites you to step off the beaten path and engage in that most gratifying local experience—finding a place that feels like a well-kept secret, where discovering a new favorite dish is just part of the pleasure of being a guest to genuine flavors and welcoming company.

The birria ramen was exquisite! Salsa flavors and heat were on-point, too. Paid less than $10 after tax and tip for a hearty meal. Can’t wait to work my way through the menu.

Ever since I found Los Gonzalez I could not imagine giving my money to ANY other restaurant. It is literally the best food I have ever ate. I am definitely in love with the birria tacos both chicken & the shredded beef & of course I am loca for that elote loco!! I have been working my way through the menu and I have not found one menu item that I would not rate a 100/10. Definitely definitely definitely recommend giving this restaurant a chance. I can almost guarantee it will become your favorite Mexican food restaurant!!

Los Gonzales is bringing the flavor! I have been here a couple times and it’s been really good. Easy to order online, or order at the counter. Great selection of tacos, flatbread tacos, tortas, burrito- I have not tried anything I did not like. Great service Great food Best red sauce in town Good prices

Great tacos, friendly staff, and if I lived here it would be a great place to play some pool. Worth a stop for sure. Quesabirria is delicious.

This place is nestled next t a bar and has an inside door that connects the two. Pool tables and video games are here. There are a few tables to sit down and eat. Tacos were legit and the elotes was delicious. Desserts were pretty incredible as well.

We were going to see Heavy Metal Cellists from Finland at The Grove . Hadn't been there in Years but it was the perfect opportunity to check out nearby Los Gonzalez! I ordered the Meatless Nachos (they have lots of meaty options) add Cilantro and Onions. There was like a bajillion toppings and it was all fresh and yummy! Probably could've used twice the chips!! Also an Elote Cup that was soooo rich, my husband ended up finishing. He got 2 tacos. A regular Al Pastor and Birria Flatbread. He preferred the flavors on the latter but both disappeared in no time! Service from Maria was great! She was wonderful at answering questions and was very friendly. Food is reasonably priced and came out of the kitchen quickly. There was a Torta on the menu not listed online that I'd love to go back and try. Very unassuming little neighborhood restaurant but Definitely worth a stop! This place is always so good! Love the tacos! Asada is seasoned well and nice tender chunks.
